Biography - EN + IT

After studying at the University of Oxford(BA) and University of Surrey(M Mus) and the Royal College of Music’s Opera School, where she won numerous prizes, including the Shakespeare Prize Bursary (awarded by Dame Gwyneth Jones), enabling her to complete her studies at the Vienna State Opera Studio, Ann began her professional career with a number of roles for the Vienna State Opera, including Poussette (Manon), Jessie (Weill’s Mahagonny) and all the high soprano roles in Schoenberg’s Moses und Aaron under conductors for example Adam Fischer, Horst Stein and Ernst Marzendorfer in productions by Ponelle and Gotz Friedrich. She made her American debut as the Queen of the Night (Magic Flute) with Pittsburgh Opera, a role she has also performed at the Vienna Volksoper, the National Theatre, Prague, Braunschweig Staatstheater, and on tour in Paris and Spain.
